Arsenal vs Burnley Player ratings: A collective of underwhelming performances leads to another draw

On the day, there were no real stand out performances. The fact that Burnley were far superior for large portions of the match show just how far the gunners have fallen in recent times.

PLAYER RATINGS:

Bernd Leno- 7. Did not have much to do for large periods in the game. His distribution was decent, and that’s all there is to say. Burnley had only 2 shots on target.

Bukayo Saka- 5. Posed a threat up the flank in the first 20 minutes, but after the injury he never looked the same. Let’s hope he is back soon.

Shkodran Mustafi- 6. A decent performance from Mustafi today. Made no big mistakes but lost his man in the area a few times. Much improved since last season.

David Luiz- 6. Much like Mustafi, Luiz had a very average performance today. Nothing of note to mention, a decent display with a few mistakes marking players in the box.

Hector Bellerin- 6. A standard display from our Spanish fullback. He had a few nervous moments but also made some key contributions. Didn’t get too much of a chance to attack.

Granit Xhaka- 6. Played some good long balls, specifically his ball through to Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. Made a few sloppy passes but an overall fine performance.

Matteo Guendouzi- 5. Worked as hard as ever and gave everything for the team, but made some errors on the ball. Distribution needs to be a little faster, but not a catastrophic display from the French youngster.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang- 5. Had three decent chances across the 90 minutes, but was unable to convert. Didn’t feel like today was his day. He’ll be back to his clinical self after his rustiness goes away.

Mesut Ozi-: 3. Very poor from Mesut Ozil today. Simply not good enough from our creative link. Often shied away from picking up the ball and went large periods without contribution. Bestowed a ridiculous amount of work to be done onto the midfield pivot behind him.

Gabriel Martinelli- 5. Didn’t have too many chances in the game, but worked his socks off. Had very little impact. Need to get him involved more.

Alexandre Lacazette- 5. Missed a good chance right at the start, made a few missed passes but had very little service across the 90 minutes.

Substitutes:

Lucas Torreira- 6. Came on for the injured Bukayo Saka and joined Matteo in the middle. Didn’t have much impact on the game, but was solid throughout.

Willock- 5. Looked very different from the player we saw the other day. Needs to move the ball quicker, but not a catastrophic display from the youngsters.

Nketiah- N/A. Didn’t have any time to have an impact on the game, therefore a rating would be unjust. Should have been brought on earlier.

All in all, the performance was not one that Mikel Arteta will be happy with. The personnel that he opted for should have been able to do the business at Burnley, but were blatantly unable. The two week interlull has now begun and Arsenal have two weeks of rest prior to the next fixture at home to Newcastle United on February 16th. Come that match, the performances individually and moreover, as a whole must be better.
