What up, Pimps?
Welcome one and welcome all to the Finton’s Frolic right opinion zone. Today, we’ll be discussing one of the worst Arsenal performances I have ever seen.
I woke up at 7 in the morning with very little confidence, to tell you the truth. The scenario isn’t all that weird for most foreign fans, we’ve all woken up, crusty eyed, sipping our bitter coffees instead of a sharp beer, knowing full well our club is probably going to lose. Today was one of those terrible days. The eye goop has been washed away from the espresso and constant apathetic rubbing of my face throughout today's 90 minutes of garbage, so let's get into it.
All I wanted, like most, was a performance. Effort. All of the ever-typical played out British punditry clichés such as passion, desire and the will to die for the badge were missing. Manchester City may be a soulless club, but Mikel Arteta’s side is a hopeless one. You can still win without a soul, just ask us gingers.
Watching Pep Guardiola flick our young manager away like a booger that wasn't even sticky, resembled a father effortlessly leaving his arrogant son, that thinks he’s fast, in his far more matured dust in a foot race. The Man City players did the same to ours, and both parties on our end were equally pathetic and delusional in any confidence they had, if any, coming into the game.
The only people that deserve any praise are the fans. The match goers, foreigners and all Pimps are worthy of a loving pat on the back. What we have gone through as a family in watching this wretchedness cannot go understated. City may have never had any sort of culture or values, but the Gooners have. And now it’s vanishing — that’s even more painful. “Cityzens” in their pathetically miniature numbers, don’t even know what they’re missing out on.
To apologize, the manager and players went over and acknowledged the away supporters. They clapped and looked on with frowns glued to their faces. Some supporters applauded back and others told, or motioned them to “do one”. Neither portion were in the wrong.
But who representatives of this once fine club should be staring at are themselves. They are ruining our reputation. Cry and apologize all you want, but you will never be in as much pain as the Amazon delivery guy who sneakily watches Arsenal matches at work. You’ll never be in as much turmoil as the fan who illegally watches all of your matches because they can’t afford the extortionate streaming service or cable channel required to do so. You will never have to force yourself to write about how terrible your team is without getting paid for it.
Look in the mirror when you get back to your mansion, and still receive your £1 million plus, annually, and think of the fans who you’ve ruined the day, and maybe even week of. That is what is at sake as a professional footballer at a club like Arsenal.
Anyways, I’m on a tangent. At least it, in its ranty nature, still has more structure and direction than Arteta’s Arsenal though. Basically everything apart from our promising youth has to change, but even if it doesn't, we know we will all foolishly remain in red and white until the day we die.
The season is far from over, I’m not so sure I can say the same for Arsenal’s status as a great club.
Toodloo...!
