What up, Pimps?
Welcome one and welcome all to the Finton’s Frolic right opinion zone. Today I will be discussing the rediscovery of Arsenal’s bravery—and moreover how some of the players' wardrobe choices are exemplative of it.
The Gunners were already two goals to the good against Big Sam’s anti-footballing side and then Mikel Arteta decided. It was time.
Hector Bellerin was called off of the pitch at the 54 minute mark and on came ANOTHER guy in a pair of trousers. A third in the white ones. Said bold fashion statement was made by none other than Ainsley Maitland-Niles, Alexandre Lacazette and Dani Ceballos. The former is known for having ice run through his veins, but apparently he doesn’t have anything in his arteries but blood seeing as he couldn’t handle the frigid weather at the Hawthorns.
I wasn’t sure how to feel when I saw the lanky, languid, long-pant- wearing lad boasting his bright white tights, initially, but then it made me think. Is such a bold statement of fashion proof that the Gunners aren’t scared of their own shadows anymore? Lacazette and Ceballos in tights isn't totally impossible to imagine, but Maitland-Niles wearing them is a true spectacle.
You’d expect this kind of behavior from fellas like Bellerin, Laca and Ceballos, especially the right back, who is almost overly-brave “fashionishly”. Bellerin goes to like France and shit. He wears those one coats that are bordering on comically big and does so unironically.
This boldness is unheard of from the self-proclaimed “bird catcher” though. Maitland-Niles is a man who was once called to the touch line for wearing a gold chain. He is the last guy you’d expect to be wearing skin-tight pants to the ankles—yet alas, he did.
He and the others obviously did so because the team is no longer scared of anything. Not even judgement. It takes a real, brave soul to wear yoga pants on international television, but Arteta has the players feeling as if they’re invincible and can wear whatever they want. Maybe flannel undershirts will be next.
If this fearlessness persists, the Gunners will continue to move up the table. First the Europa league spots, then the Champions league, soon the World Cup trophy. It’s crazy to think all of the inevitably forthcoming success started with a pair of man leggings, but hey, you’ve gotta start somewhere.
That’s all this week folks, thanks for reading, go buy a pair of tights and your life will get better. Also, your junk will be held in place too. Toodloo...!
